Michael has a Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York-Binghamton NY and a Masters degree from Regis University-Denver CO. His formal education and 'day job' for over 27 years has been in finance in accounting for healthcare facilities from NY to CA. His music abilities on trumpet started at age of ten and had a parallel road of success to his professional business career. Primarily self taught during college Michael's formal classical trumpet training was from Dirk Koman Coronado CA between 1992 to 1996. His jazz training came from Bob Montgomery [trumpet] James Brandon Lewis [sax] and Kay Ambrose [piano] in Denver CO from 2004 to 2007. Michael teaches; Primary: Trumpet Music Theory and Secondary: Beginning Piano and Guitar. While working at Scripps Health from 1988 to 1995 Michael started his music teaching experience with the La Jolla School Band program as a Volunteer Trumpet Instructor. He established the City of Aurora CO Recreation and Cultural Brass Ensemble and was a recommended teacher for the Colorado Honor Band. He took his ensemble students to a professional recording studio and they cut a demo teaching CD so the students could learn from their own performance.
In addition to his teaching Michael is a member of the Buglers across America organization and was on call for the Fort Logan National Cemetery for Honor Guard seven days a week. He also is a national listed Music Instructor on this site and others. He started the employee-based jazz quintet at the University of Colorado Health Sciences center called Fitz 5to9 jazz which record two demo CDs and played corporate fund raising parties for the University. Because of their contribution to the Denver community Michael and the Fitz 5to9 Jazz quintet were interviewed and performed live on CBS4 Denver Morning show in October 2006.
In 2007 Mike and his wife transferred back to San Diego CA. Scripps Health gave Michael an opportunity for a wonderful "day gig" in their Corporate Real Estate Department. He is in the process of organizing the San Diego 5to9 Jazz group along with working with over six separate music stores in the area to continue bringing his trumpet teaching to the San Diego area. Michael also is starting to work on his research to become a Certified Music Therapist this year becoming a volunteer for the Music Therapist staff at Scripps.

Mary Alice Hendricks is an accomplished and experienced player in all kinds of musical venues, as both soloist and chamber musician. Her teachers included Gabor and Peter Rejto in Claremont, California as well as India Zerbe Jobelmann and Hamilton Cheifetz in Portland, Oregon. While earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees, she has performed with the Portland Opera, Monterey County and Columbia symphonies, Orchester Heidelberg, Portland Civic Theatre and many others, as well as soloist with the Portland Chamber Orchestra under Paul Bellam. Other chamber music credits include a successful Oregon tour with her piano quartet and appearances with the Virtuosi della Rosa, a versatile group of chamber players in Portland. Mary Alice was principal cellist for the Bremerton Symphony for six years, and more recently has been a member of the Iris Quartet in Seattle, a group of women dedicated to true performance on Baroque- and Classical-era instruments.
Mary Alice’s teaching experience goes back to 1983 where she began as a theory teacher for the Portland Youth Philharmonic preparatory orchestra and then later as the cello instructor for Young Musicians and Artists summer camp at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. She also served as a section coach for several schools in the Kitsap County area and wrote and performed 35-minute assembly programs of musical history and styles for K-8 audiences. Since relocating to San Diego, this versatile player been active with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and has also performed as a supporting musician in pop concerts by Smokey Robinson and Miss Patty Page. She continues her teaching as a private cello instructor and coaches the Sundance Elementary School cellists in Rancho Penasquitos.

I'm Byron Ensign of Byron's Piano Tuning, a full time piano tuning and repair service. My aim is to provide you with quality service relating to the care and maintenance of your acoustic piano. I've tuned many thousands of pianos and regularly service the various makes and models, from spinets to concert grands. My clientele consists of private parties, teachers, piano students, and piano dealership work as an independent contractor. I'm also called upon to tune for churches, schools, recording sessions, and live music venues and events throughout the area. Tuning is primarily what I do, but I also subscribe to the full-service maintenance approach to piano care when applicable, which involves the installation of a Dampp-Chaser, a grand piano string cover, regular annual tunings, periodic internal cleaning, regulation adjustments, and voicing. I service primarily the North County and North County Coastal regions of Greater San Diego.
